After many years of hard work from SDOS, and more recently, the fabulous Friends of Adur SSSI, Natural England have finally published their action plan for the Adur Estuary SSSI.
With the Adur SSSI in ‘unfavourable condition’, action needs to be taken and the plan, also put together with input from the Ouse and Adur Rivers Trust, RSPB and Sussex Wildlife Trust and Adur and Worthing Councils, is a very positive step in improving and protecting our precious natural jewel.
Sarah Hunt from the Friends of Adur SSSI said, “FoASSSI will lead the implementation of recommendations in the management plan, engaging all parties to create the conditions for this SSSI to recover.”
Tony Benton, SDOS chair, said: “We greatly welcome the publication of this management plan. The recommendations for improving the condition of the SSSI are clear and realistic. The SSSI is an amazing place for people to connect with nature in an urban setting and we look forward to supporting the Friends group with their work.”
