User Group
Please be advised the User Group is for SDOS members only
Introduction
Welcome to the SDOS User Group! This private online mailing list helps members stay in touch, share wildlife sightings, ask questions, and enjoy birding together. It’s hosted securely at Groups.io.
How to Join
There are two simple ways to sign up:
- Option 1: Accept the invite email you’ll receive when you join SDOS.
- Option 2: Send an email to `sdos+subscribe@groups.io`. You’ll usually be approved within a couple of days.
How It Works
Once you’re subscribed, you can:
- Receive messages from fellow members via email
- Reply using the buttons at the bottom of each message (don’t use your regular reply button!)
- Post messages by emailing `sdos@groups.io` — you can include photos too!
It’s a relaxed space for sharing sightings, getting help with identification, and enjoying nature together.
Managing Your Emails
You control how you receive group messages. Choose what suits you best:
To change your settings:
Email Option | Description |
Individual Messages | Each message arrives separately – ideal if you want to stay fully updated. |
Full Featured Digest | Up to 12 messages bundled into one – easy to skim and keep your inbox tidy. |
Daily Summary | One morning email summarising the previous day’s activity. |
Special Notices Only | Just the occasional important message from moderators. |
No Email | No messages at all - you can still access the web version. |
- Visit groups.io/g/sdos and log in
- Or contact Sue Miles on: `sdos.memsec@btinternet.com` for help
