A shy and rare reedbed resident, hard to see but occasionally present in Sussex. Known for its booming call.

Winter visitor and rare breeder in large reedbeds like Rye Harbour, Arundel WWT, and Amberley Wild Brooks.

🎶 Voice & Behaviour

Famous for its deep “booming” call in spring. Best spotted at dawn or dusk during calm conditions.
