Hume’s Warbler

🔍 Overview

A very rare late-autumn vagrant from Central Asia. Similar to Yellow-browed Warbler but duller and more secretive.

Greyish-olive above, pale below

Two pale wing bars

Dark legs and subtle yellow in supercilium

🗺️ Habitat & Distribution

Most often found in coastal scrub or bushy areas during October to December. Recorded at Beachy Head, Seaford, and Cuckmere Haven.

🎶 Voice & Behaviour

Call is a sharp, flat “tsu-eet“—less sweet than Yellow-browed. Actively forages in low vegetation and trees.
