Positive Signs For SDOS At Brooklands

What’s that bird? Brooklands Park visitors can now find out, thanks to a new information panel.

Resident birds from the ubiquitous herring gull to the reclusive water rail feature on panel, which also gives some details of their behaviour. All can be seen at Brooklands Park, which is a popular recreation spot for families, dog walkers and others from Worthing and Lancing.

Shoreham District Ornithological Society (SDOS) designed and funded the panel, which was installed this week by the park team.

SDOS chair Jenny Holter and Cllr Martin McCabe, Worthing Borough Council’s cabinet member for the environment, dropped by today to test it out.

Jenny said: “This is the perfect spot for some signage to help people identify some of the commonly seen species. SDOS is proud to sponsor this initiative.”

Martin said: “It’s a wonderful addition to Brooklands Park that will help residents and visitors of all ages discover more about the wildlife on their doorstep.”
