Richard Allan

Vice Chair

Richard has lived in Sussex since 2000 and been an SDOS Council member since 2022.

A birder since being a teenager when he marvelled at breeding kingfishers, dippers and great crested grebes in his native Yorkshire. Richard is now a keen all-round naturalist and nature photographer and spends as much time in the summer searching and photographing wild flowers, butterflies and dragonflies as he does birds.

Richard lives overlooking the Adur Estuary and has a strong knowledge of how our local wader & gull populations change with the seasons. Richard is a volunteer warden for our local RSPB Adur Reserve.

Richard’s role on Council is to support the strategic plan and direction of SDOS, leading public engagement events and leading some of the SDOS outdoor meetings.
